Accuracy: EDM is very accurate. Tolerances of .0002 are easily obtainable.
Flexibility: EDM can create shapes and contours that other types of machines cannot.
Materials: EDM can be used on any conductive material whether it has been hardened or not. Stainless steel, titanium, tungsten, copper, carbide as well as tool steels.
Prototyping: EDM is a rapid process due to the speed in which designs can be changed.
Delicate: EDM is a delicate machining process because there is no cutting force. This enables the production of finely detailed parts not possible with conventional cutting methods.
Finish: EDM surface can be as fine as 4Ra without polishing. No need for secondary operations.
Distortion: EDM is capable of cutting hardened materials. Forms can be machined after heat treat thereby eliminating the problem of distortion caused by heat treat.
Production: EDM is a cost effective method of producing many complex parts by being able to stack parts with part repeatability that run "lights out."
